An old soul hailing from Macon Georgia USA, Hughes Taylor was immediately drawn to the blues when he first picked up the guitar. Two decades later, he’s become an acclaimed guitarist and songwriter playing a fiery brand of blues-rock whose power trio lineage stretches back to Stevie Ray Vaughan, Cream and Jimi Hendrix.

Texas blues/rock guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter Ally Venable has made her fiery presence known around the world since the release of her debut album at 16. Venable is that rare musician who can take her old-school influences like Guy and Stevie Ray Vaughan and create music that brings their spirits to today’s listeners where they live.

Shoeshine Blue is songwriter, Michael Apinyakul, and a talented ship of pirates who follow him into the great sea of song. Soulful folk for soulful folks.

Check out this band that includes guitarist, Noé Socha.  Noé Socha is a Brooklyn-based guitar and harmonica player originally from the small town of Carpi, Italy. He is influenced by folk artists such as Bob Dylan and Neil Young, Delta blues musicians such as Mississippi John Hurt, Muddy Waters, and Lightnin’ Hopkins plus a hint of Hendrix-esque flavor.

The Wichita Blues Society lost a dear friend this year.  Josh Jackson was a WBS board member and dedicated blues fan.  His loss is especially devastating for his family and close friends.

Josh was always the life of the party and befitting this designation, a celebration of life concert and party will be held on Friday, June 28 at WAVE, 650 E Second St North.

Firebrand blues guitarist Chris Duarte came up as a force to be reckoned with in the 1990s Austin Texas roots and blues scene. He continues  to push his music forward.
